Scope & Content The Social Lyceum record book contains the initial meeting records held at the house of Benjamin F. Thompson. on October 19, 1846. The constitution and the first members signed their names in the book. The last entry was made March 1, 1847.
Admin/Biographical History The Social Lyceum was founded Oct. 1846 for the literary and social improvement of men and women of the community. Programs consisted of reading selections from prose and poetry, original compositions, discussions and vocal music. It met two times a month.
