Admin/Biographical History |
Winchester resident Peter Engeldrum, producer of Imcotek Digital Films and a fine arts photographer, has produced several films documenting Winchester history. As a member of Winchester's local media access organization, WinCAM, and a member in the Winchester Historical Society (25 years as of 2020), he developed a keen interest in recording Winchester history and produced The Colonel, the story of the town's eponym William P. Winchester. It had its premiere showing in 2016. He has also produced the documentary "Winchester's Ghost Railroad." The research materials in the collection were gathered for "The Colonel," a video biography of Col. William P. Winchester (1801-1850), a man who never set foot in the town but for whom the Town of Winchester was named, in the expectation of a monetary gift. Although a reception was planned, a great storm led to its postponement. However, ultimately it was not rescheduled due to the Colonel's unexpected death that same year. Later, his son Thomas presented the Town with oil, photographic, and marble portraits of the Colonel, as well as the silver punchbowl he kept on his yacht, Northern Light. |
