The Symmes Park water tower was erected about 1930 in a residential area. This area was partially developed land lying between Cranston and Ledyard Roads, west of Rt. 38 toward Medford. In 1931 it was voted to remove the tower to the Middlesex Fells, but expenditures for new schools took precidence. It was finally moved about 1934. The collection consists of meeting notes, chronology of events and lists of residents and people who owned land who were applying for abatements on property tax. There are 6 photos 3.5 x 4.5 and 3 photos 5 x 7 of the tower and surrounding houses. |

Erving Fox lived at 418 Highland Ave. His nephew, Robert E. Schulz, found these papers and photos in a trunk and sent them to us. |
