This collection contains items from the former collections of the Winchester Historical Society on subjects that pre-date the incorporation of Winchester in 1850. Although Winchester not incorporated until 1850, its history as a village dates back to about 1638 when the land was apportioned for settlement. The first house and mill were built in 1640. |
