The main item in the collection is a photograph album dating from 1900 to 1911 with 52 photographs, mostly scenes of the Mystic Lake, Aberjona River, and Reservoir, but also Shaker Glen in Woburn and Sunapee Lake. The Shuh-Shu-Gah Canoe Club and Winchester Boat Club are pictured, but otherwise the views are all outdoor scenery. Several photographs show family and friends enjoying canoeing at the lake. Also donated were high school reunion photos and miscellaneous items. Since most of the people in the reunion photos were unidentified, an effort was made to identify them, and papers with identifications are filed with the photos. |

Robert Sharon, the donor, was the son of John Frank Sharon (June 1890 - 28 Jan 1940) and Margaret E. Horn (b. 21 April 1891, m. 20 Oct 1915). Their children included: Elizabeth (b. 5 September 1916); Eleanor (c. 1918); Sally (c. 1923); Robert K. (b. 22 Feb 1928); Jane (b. c. 1930). John Frank was the son of John Symmes Sharon (22 December 1850 - 4 Aug 1910) and Annie Eliza Johnson (b. Aug. 1852 Sweden, m. 20 Nov 1879). Their children, all born in Winchester, were: Alice M. (b. 18 August 1880) (sold the Sharon House in 1940), Mabel E. (b. 13 May 1883), Martha A., (b. 28 February 1886), John Frank, Ruth Amy (1892-7 Feb 1894). John Symmes Sharon was the son of Joseph D. Sharon (c. 1823 - 12 Feb 1891) and Martha A. Powers. The family lived in the Sharon House, 403 Main St. Robert Sharon lived at 10 Lloyd St. Persons shown in photographs are identified by initials. Identified people include: A.M.S.Alice M. Sharon (b. 1880) M.E.S.Mabel Eleanor Sharon (b. 1883) M.A.S.Martha A. Sharon (b. 1886) A.N.D.Alfred Nathaniel Denley (b. 1886, m. 1914 M.A.S.) C.C.L.Chester Cleveland Locke (presumably) Unidentified initials include: BMcD, MLM, LDR, and HFV. |
