This collection is a compilation of family records and biographical material from the founding of the town until present day. These primary documents include books, reminiscences, copies of deeds and wills, letters, genealogies, miscellaneous documents, and diaries.
The families resided in the Winchester area from the middle of the 17th century and had a major influence on the land and industries in Winchester.

The documents date from the founding of the town and were formerly filed in a collection called Family, which included original documents, newspaper articles and photographs. The photographs were moved to the photograph collection Portraits - 19th - early 20th c. Newspaper articles, being secondary records, were filed in the vertical file under Biographies
