The Richardson family was one of the oldest and most prominent families in Winchester. This collection contains materials relating to the family's history and influence on the town of Winchester. It contains a wide range of materials, including newspaper clippings, inventories, and deeds compiled by multiple generations of the Richardson family. Also of interest are family wills, diaries, and correspondence. |

The Richardson family is one of the oldest in Winchester. Nathaniel A. Richardson (1820-1908), born in South Woburn to Jesse and Lora (Stevens) Richardson, became a local historian who wrote about a variety of local topics, including the Richardson family. During the 19th century, Washington Street was called Richardson's Row since several Richardson houses were built along it. Box 1 contains documents and articles formerly belonging to the Winchester Historical Society. Box 2 contains items donated by Mrs. Imedda Stenquis.
