The 10 paintings from the church in Hemroulle, Belgium, given to Winchester's 10 churches as displayed by Winchester clergy at a presentation ceremony in the high school auditorium, Jan. 7, 1951. Selectman Nicholas Fitzgerald is standing second from the left. John Hanlon (whose fulfillment of a wartime debt of honor prompted the gift) is next to him. The clergy include (l-r) Howard Chidley (First Congregational), Virgess Hill (New Hope Baptist), John Snook (Episcopal), Edward Simpson (Christian Science), Charles Gallagher (Immaculate Conception), John O'Riordan (St. Mary's), and Walter Bailey (Crawford Memorial Baptist). |
